MLA are hiring – Principal Designer / CDM Consultant

Michael Laird Architects is one of the largest architectural practices in Scotland with close to eighty employees, based across two offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our office as a Principal Designer/CDM Consultant. This role is predominantly office based, although some flexible working is possible in line with our company policy.

Key Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with all parties.

Work with the Head of CDM in fulfilling the duties of the principal designer on a variety of projects.

Be able to self-manage day-to-day tasks and have awareness of overall project timescales.

Attend internal CPDs and furthering technical knowledge.

Involvement in the company Functional Structure in a supporting capacity.

Have an awareness of business and service development activities and supporting as required.

Adhere to Company policies and procedures.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A construction/building/design/health and safety related degree at 2:2 level or above.
  • Previous CDM related experience
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Good report writing skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite – Photoshop/ InDesign (Preferable but not essential)
  • Basic understanding/experience of Revit (Preferable but not essential)
  • Basic understanding/experience of AutoCAD (Preferable but not essential)
