The redevelopment of the former Tynecastle High School will create purpose built student accommodation for 545 residents in a car free environment with generous outdoor amenity space.

The focus of the development will be the retained ‘B’ Listed Main School Building, which will be sensitively refurbished.

Central ‘collegiate’ style courtyards support planting that will encourage bio-diversity and water attenuation. These spaces are surrounded by the new buildings which will act as buffers between the space and the surrounding uses, sheltering users from the adjacent North British Distillery and the Western Approach Road.

A community facility is accessible from the adjacent street, whilst a sheltered Urban Farm is also provided for use by the local community.
