A Look Ahead to 2021

As we look to the year ahead, we are pleased to share progress on some exciting projects that MLA will be working on in 2021.

Finishing in January, the interiors team have designed the refurbishment of 7 Castle Street’s reception and common areas. The building has already won a platinum cycle score and is the first building in Scotland to be awarded a Fitwell rating.

The architecture team have also already been busy, with work on site kicking off this month at The National Robotarium at Heriot-Watt University. Work on offices for Inovyn in Runcorn also continues and will be due for completion in Spring.

A number of owners have now moved into the first phase of flats at the former Boroughmuir High School, with the rest of project due for completion in Spring next year. Construction for the new build and annex conversion starts on site in Spring and will be completed at the same time as the main building.

At the end of 2020, the Green Team at MLA set out a roadmap to becoming a greener practice by 2023. We’ll be kickstarting this with a Green month in March, with a variety of events and CPDs on sustainability issues.

Since the start of the pandemic, we made a conscious effort to develop the culture at MLA in order to stay connected, whilst we were working apart. This year we continue to do this, working on new strategies to share our knowledge between our architecture and interior design teams, prioritising health and wellbeing and staying positive throughout the office.

We are looking forward to a busy year and a brighter 2021.
