Adam is a Director with Michael Laird Architects and is responsible for the detail design and delivery of projects. A graduate of Heriot Watt University, completing his final year of education at KTH University in Stockholm, he joined MLA in 2003. He has developed his career within MLA, being promoted to Associate Director in 2014 and Director in 2020.
Adam has a wide range of experience through all stages of design and delivery. In recent years he has focused on the detail design, construction, and delivery of major projects, working on commercial developments, laboratory buildings and large-scale educational facilities.

Alejandro joined Michael Laird Architects in the autumn of 2018. After obtaining his Masters in Architecture with honours at the University of Granada, Spain, and following a short stay in Paris, he moved to Scotland to work in a practice specialising in parametric design for major sports buildings.

Alejandro assists in the architectural design and construction detailing of many projects, focusing on industrial distillery projects. He brings a unique design perspective to MLA, acquired through his international experience and varied professional career.

Andrea graduated from Dundee School of Architecture with a Master of Architecture in 2014 and joined MLA in early 2017. Prior to that, she worked as a designer on a 3 month design and construction school project in rural Zambia, following working on various high-profile residential and mixed-use projects in Glasgow. In between her University degrees, she worked at international practices in both Japan and Australia.

Since joining MLA Andrea has worked on several projects throughout Edinburgh and Scotland, assisting with everything from the preliminary design stages of projects to the production of detailed design information.

Beverley joined the team in summer 2018 with 6 years’ experience in the industry. She graduated from Dundee University and has since worked in Glasgow for Haa Design and C2 Concepts on a variety of workplace and interiors projects. Since joining MLA, Beverley has been involved in projects for financial and legal service clients.

Following graduation from University of Seville in 2009, Carmen worked in a design-led practice that specialises in architectural conservation for housing & public buildings.
She then relocated to Edinburgh and joined MLA in 2016. Since then, she has been a valuable team member in several projects including the Boroughmuir House School Housing Scheme.
She has also been responsible for delivering concept and technical project information on various office fit out projects.

Conor joined MLA in March 2020 having spent 8 years working in practice in South East England as a graduate of the Mackintosh School of Architecture. His wealth of experience and knowledge working at all stages of the RIBA Plan of Work equip him for his role at MLA of day to day job running. Conor has worked within multiple sectors including Education, Residential, Scientific and Commercial and is currently delivering the latest development at Ineos, Grangemouth.

Ewan joined MLA in 2021 to develop a CDM service where he will be fulfilling the role of principal designer on various projects. Prior to joining MLA Ewan worked for property and construction consultancy companies providing construction health and safety and CDM related advice. He graduated from Heriot Watt University in 2001 with a degree in building surveying however he has focused on CDM services for the past 10 years.

Fiona joined MLA in March 2019 as Office Manager for Glasgow. Fiona is responsible for all administration functions – including CPD co-ordination, as well as project support for the directors, architects and designers in the office. She has over 25 years’ experience in office management having worked for haa design and other architectural practices in Glasgow and London. Fiona enjoys being part of the busy team here in Glasgow.

Gillian has over 30 years experience working in interiors, specifically workplace, across most business sectors. She joined MLA in 2015, as a Director in the Glasgow office, after working for a number of other practices, most notably BDG architecture + design, haa design and DEGW. While at DEGW Gillian was introduced to Workplace and Building consultancy in which she developed a keen interest and specialism.

She believes that buildings and interiors should be designed around people, and as designers we should engage with a variety of people throughout the design process. This way we will achieve beautiful and meaningful buildings which delight, inspire and endure.

Greg joined the MLA team in 2020 with six years experience in the industry. He graduated from Edinburgh Napier University and previously worked in Glasgow for Cooper Cromar and Keppie Design on a variety of sectors including retail, commercial and healthcare, where he provided design and technical support on a range of projects. Since joining MLA, Greg has been involved in various commercial projects.

With seven years of experience in education and residential projects, Hilario is currently assisting in the design and delivery of a variety of industrial projects throughout Scotland.

He graduated from Minho University, Portugal in 2009 and since then has had international work experience in Switzerland and the Caribbean before joining the practice in 2013.

Jeremy Scott is the Chairman and Head of Design with Michael Laird Architects and has overall responsibility for the design of all projects within the practice. Jeremy graduated from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, with a first class honours degree. He has been responsible for the design and delivery of many award-winning schemes throughput Scotland and the UK. Jeremy has particular expertise in masterplanning, community engagement, mixed use urban regeneration, commercial and residential projects with a keen understanding of not only the importance of design but also the commercial requirements of all projects. As a result, Jeremy has become the designer of choice for many of Scotland’s leading developers.

Kim-Marie joined MLA in March 2020 as an Interior Designer with over 10 years’ experience in the industry. Kim-Marie graduated from the University of Dundee with a Masters in Architecture. She also managed to squeeze in a marketing career. After several years working her way up to
a Senior marketing position, Kim-Marie made the decision to leave for an Interior Design post and joined Keppie Design in 2015.

Since joining MLA Kim-Marie has been responsible for the day to day running and management of projects including production of design and technical information.

Lewis joined the MLA team in November 2018, just after graduating in Interior & Environmental Design at Dundee University in May that year.

Since joining the practice, Lewis has been able to focus on his design passions. He has assisted on 3D visualisations and design intent work. He has also produced 3D models from Sketchup and worked on interior design solutions – as well as producing proposal documents and graphics for projects.

Maddie joined MLA in June 2019 to work in the admin and marketing teams in Edinburgh, having previously worked in the events industry. As well as working in the front office, she supports the marketing team with the organisation of events and assists with digital marketing.

Mark joined the practice in 2009 after graduating from the University of Strathclyde with a postgraduate diploma in advanced architectural design. After completing his professional studies, he qualified as an Architect in 2012. During his time at MLA, he has gained considerable experience in the design and delivery of various building types from commercial refurbishments and residential developments to large scale education projects.

In the past few years, Mark has been based in Glasgow working as part of a joint team with Reiach and Hall Architects, delivering the City of Glasgow Colleges project consisting of both its’, Riverside and City campuses. Neil joined MLA in 2018, having qualified as an architect in 2015. After graduating from the University of Strathclyde in 2011, he worked on a variety of projects and has significant experience in the University and Further Education sectors, working at stages ranging from client briefing to delivery. He has also been fortunate to have worked on a number of award winning projects, including the City of Glasgow College’s Riverside and City campuses.

Since joining MLA Neil has been involved in the new office developments in the Scottish Borders, working at the concept stage through to the detailed design and delivery. We are seeking to design open and inviting spaces in which to work and collaborate whilst creating buildings which have strong architectural concepts and elegant detailed design.

Nicola graduated from Durham University in 1991 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) with Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC). After working for GE Capital, she set up her own financial consultancy company with one of her main clients being The Edinburgh Clinic and moderating for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland.

Nicola joined MLA in November 2016 as Finance Manager, and became Finance Director in April 2021. As well as ensuring good financial control, she aims to develop the use of Project Accounting in our practice.

Paula studied Interior and Environmental Design at the University of Dundee and graduated with a Bachelor of Design degree in 2013. She joined the MLA team in June 2021 with 7 years of design industry experience. With a passion for design, Paula enjoys researching current trends, discovering new sustainable materials, and collaborating with MLA interior team to achieve the best design outcomes.

A graduate of Aberdeen in 2004, Sandy joined MLA in May 2007 and qualified as an architect in later in the year. He was promoted to Associate in 2012 and Project Director in 2020.

His professional experience covers a variety of project sizes and types including regeneration, educational, commercial and residential projects. Within these, he has played a key role in successful project bids and has been responsible for the production of planning applications, tender and works packages and assisted with numerous feasibility studies and masterplans.

Evelyn graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Interior Design in 2008 and joined MLA in 2021. Prior to joining she was managing large scale staff moves on behalf of blue chip commercial clients. She recently managed and delivered the successful relocation of 1700 staff from 6 sites into one. This followed on from working in workplace design with a leading furniture supplier and prior to that she also had experience working on domestic architecture and interior design projects in and around Glasgow.

In her role at MLA Evelyn hopes to combine all of her design and people engagement experience. She aims to provide workplace consultancy to our clients that ensures the designs we deliver have the users and their requirements at the heart of them. Since joining she has been working with the design teams on several workplace projects to provide clear change support to enable our clients, their staff, and their buildings to adapt to the new ways of working that we are all now embracing.

Fernando has a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Granada, Spain. His multi-national career experiences led him to Scotland in 2016. Lauren graduated from Dundee University in 2017 and joined MLA in late 2020. Prior to that, she worked in the Hospitality Design sector, gaining valuable experience in projects of various scales, including bars and restaurants. Since joining MLA Merve has been responsible for the design and delivery of 2 Semple Street, a speculative office development in Edinburgh, and is currently leading a £25 million hotel project in Newcastle from early design through to construction stages.

Michael joined the team at Michael Laird Architects in early 2018. He is a graduate of the University of Dundee with a Masters in Architecture and has previously worked in practices both in Scotland and Australia. He has wide ranging project experience in the residential and public sectors and also commercial works. Michael also ran his own practice for several years working on various low energy housing and extension projects.

Prior to starting with MLA, Michael furthered his knowledge in ecological and sustainable design whilst working at a small local practice. During this time was involved in projects utilising ecological materials, considering their impacts on the buildings and its occupants along with reducing energy demand on both refurbished and new build dwellings. Work included the development and completion of in a new build residential Passivhaus in Scotland. Michael brings this wide range of experience to the team, currently working on residential projects such as Musselburgh development.

A graduate of Dundee University, Nick first joined MLA in 1993. Between 1998 – 2003 he undertook an MBA and worked for a Construction and IT Consultancy in Glasgow providing consultancy expertise to several major property development companies in London before returning to MLA in 2003.

After graduating from The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Phil has worked in a variety of sectors including commercial, domestic and education where his most recent projects saw him leading the Technical design of two new nurseries schools in Aberdeen.

Now living in Edinburgh, Phil has joined MLA as a Senior Architectural Technologist within the Banking team working on a range of commercial projects. Phil is passionate about environmental and Technical Design and hopes to continue to develop his skills with us here at MLA.

Ragda joined in MLA’s Interiors team in January 2020. Prior to this, she studied Interior & Environmental Design at the University of Dundee, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, graduating in 2018.

Recently graduated, Richard joined the team at MLA architects in the autumn of 2018 as an Architectural Technologist.
Having previously worked as an intern in Switzerland whilst completing his studies, Richard was excited to secure a permanent position where he can work on real-life projects and use CAD software. So far, he has mostly been involved in space planning and the renovation of open-plan offices, which was the focus of his Master Dissertation.

Ross graduated in 2005 from The University of Strathclyde with a Masters in Urban Design and has worked for a series of international and award winning practices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. Ross joined MLA after 12 years working on a range of projects in education, offices, hotel and leisure, residential, masterplanning and interiors. In his previous role, he led a multi-award-winning conversion to office of a Category B listed former factory in Glasgow city centre from inception to completion and more recently developed proposals for an extension to Edinburgh College of Art.

Sarah graduated from Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture with a Master of Architecture in 2014, joining MLA in 2018. Prior to joining MLA she worked at an international practice, gaining experience on a variety of large scale commercial projects.

Since joining MLA, key projects have involved the concept design for a hotel project in Newcastle City Centre and the technical design of a new office developments in the Scottish Borders.

Shortly after finishing her studies she joined MLA in the beginning of 2021. Prior to her studies at The University of Edinburgh she attended Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio for her BFA in Interior Architecture & Design where she explored areas in commercial design. During her studies Tara worked with several architectural studios in the commercial and retail sectors. At MLA, she works alongside the consultancy and interior design teams to aid both the client and the designers in the focus and output for each project. She works predominantly on workplace projects, most recently a concept for the future of workplaces in this ever changing climate.

Alejandro joined Michael Laird Architects in the autumn of 2018. After obtaining his Masters in Architecture with honours at the University of Granada, Spain, and following a short stay in Paris, he moved to Scotland to work in a practice specialising in parametric design for major sports buildings.

Alejandro assists in the architectural design and construction detailing of many projects, focusing on industrial distillery projects. He brings a unique design perspective to MLA, acquired through his international experience and varied professional career.

Fernando has a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Granada, Spain. His multi-national career experiences led him to Scotland in 2016. Lewis joined the MLA team in November 2018, just after graduating in Interior & Environmental Design at Dundee University in May that year.

Since joining the practice, Lewis has been able to focus on his design passions. He has assisted on 3D visualisations and design intent work. He has also produced 3D models from Sketchup and worked on interior design solutions – as well as producing proposal documents and graphics for projects.

Michael joined the team at Michael Laird Architects in early 2018. Recently graduated, Richard joined the team at MLA architects in the autumn of 2018 as an Architectural Technologist.
Having previously worked as an intern in Switzerland whilst completing his studies, Richard was excited to secure a permanent position where he can work on real-life projects and use CAD software. So far, he has mostly been involved in space planning and the renovation of open-plan offices, which was the focus of his Master Dissertation.

Ross graduated in 2005 from The University of Strathclyde with a Masters in Urban Design and has worked for a series of international and award winning practices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. Ross joined MLA after 12 years working on a range of projects in education, offices, hotel and leisure, residential, masterplanning and interiors. In his previous role, he led a multi-award-winning conversion to office of a Category B listed former factory in Glasgow city centre from inception to completion and more recently developed proposals for an extension to Edinburgh College of Art.

Sarah graduated from Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture with a Master of Architecture in 2014, joining MLA in 2018. Prior to joining MLA she worked at an international practice, gaining experience on a variety of large scale commercial projects.

Jayne joined the team in January 2019, with a years experience in industry. After graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2017, she joined AECOM's Strategy Plus team as an Interior Designer where she was involved in producing technical drawings, concept visuals & presentation documents.
Since joining MLA's interiors team, Jayne supports the designers with technical drawings, presentation and various other roles.

Kim-Marie joined MLA in March 2020 as an Interior Designer with over 10 years’ experience in the industry. Kim-Marie graduated from the University of Dundee with a Masters in Architecture. She also managed to squeeze in a marketing career. After several years working her way up to
a Senior marketing position, Kim-Marie made the decision to leave for an Interior Design post and joined Keppie Design in 2015.

Since joining MLA Kim-Marie has been responsible for the day to day running and management of projects including production of design and technical information.

Stuart joined MLA in 1996 after working for a renowned architectural practice in Sydney, Australia. He became a Director in 2009 and is currently based in our Glasgow office.

He has had a significant role in a number of major commercial and residential projects and also focus on the data centre development of the practice. 
He has a key role within the practice to ensure that the design and detailing of construction information is to the highest standard.

Agi has 11 years experience as an architect and interior designer in a wide range of sectors - residential, leisure, healthcare and commercial interior. She joined MLA in March 2016 as a Senior Architect / Interior Designer. Over the years she has developed a keen interest in interior design and specialises in office interiors.

Since joining MLA Agi has been involved in projects for major financial companies in various design stages spanning from feasibility to site delivery. As project architect she has been responsible for interior design, project management, architecture and detail design. Bonnie joined the MLA team in 2015 with previous experience in the Commercial and Residential Sectors. Michael joined the team at Michael Laird Architects in early 2018. He is a graduate of the University of Dundee with a Masters in Architecture and has previously worked in practices both in Scotland and Australia. He has wide ranging project experience in the residential and public sectors and also commercial works. Michael also ran his own practice for several years working on various low energy housing and extension projects.

Prior to starting with MLA, Michael furthered his knowledge in ecological and sustainable design whilst working at a small local practice. During this time was involved in projects utilising ecological materials, considering their impacts on the buildings and its occupants along with reducing energy demand on both refurbished and new build dwellings. Work included the development and completion of in a new build residential Passivhaus in Scotland. Michael brings this wide range of experience to the team, currently working on residential projects such as Musselburgh development.

Robert is responsible for the management and preparation of the practice’s specifications and for providing technical support to the practice’s designers. His is an Architectural Technologist and a graduate of Napier College. He joined the practice in 1975 and was appointed Technical Associate in 2006.

Robert has considerable knowledge of traditional and modern construction technology.

I joined MLA in 2005 and have been working on ongoing framework projects with RBS as well as key projects for Standard Life, Agilent Technologies, Scottish Enterprise and AEGON, with a focus on office fit out and refurbishment.

Mark joined the practice in 2009 after graduating from the University of Strathclyde with a postgraduate diploma in advanced architectural design. Jeremy Scott is the Chairman and Head of Design with Michael Laird Architects and has overall responsibility for the design of all projects within the practice. Jeremy graduated from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, with a first class honours degree.
