Glenkinchie Nominated at Scottish Design Awards

MLA are delighted to announce that our Glenkinchie Distillery project for Diageo has been nominated in the building re-use category at the Scottish Design Awards.

Lovingly known as The Garden Distillery, Glenkinchie is the Lowland Home of Johnnie Walker, and was the first brand home in the Johnnie Walker ‘Four Corners’ series to open in October 2020.

Our brief predominately focused on the conversion of a redundant Maturation Warehouse into a new visitor experience and Brand Home. Our vision transformed the visitor experience, creating an arrival sequence with greater clarity and focus on the re-purposed building through a major overhaul of the landscaped areas to the front of the building. Sensitive interventions and clever re-use of materials ensured that the building could provide a truly modern visitor experience whilst retaining its invaluable heritage features and original character.

Working alongside experiential brand designers BRC Imagination Arts, the completed project offers a world class, immersive visitor experience whilst maintaining a strong link with the local community.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on the 15th July. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed until then!
