The National Robotarium Opens its Doors

The National Robotarium officially opened its doors today with a celebration to showcase the new state of the art facility, and its resident robots.

MLA have been working with Heriot-Watt University since 2018 on their project, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and backed by the Scottish Government.

“The National Robotarium is exploring collaborative interaction between humans, robots and their environments.”

Echoing MLA’s own internal values, it was clear from early engagement sessions with our consultancy team that a building which could support real innovation and collaboration was required.

MLA were proud to see the forum space vibrant and alive with activity for the opening event, a space designed to be the heart of the facility, bringing academia and industry together to enable innovation.

The unrivalled lab facilities (Ultra labs, Robotic & Autonomous systems, and Human Robotic interaction) intuitively arranged around the forum space, will make the real difference to the work carried out here – a place for developing technology that will create real life solutions and take research from laboratory to market.

The double skin facade glistening behind us as we left proud and confident that the Design and Construction team have designed a place which will transform the way people and robots interact.

We look forward to showing you more of the spaces and stories of this truly innovative project very soon… watch this space.
