Our Culture

At MLA we pride ourselves on being a friendly bunch; we believe that doing things together in and out of our work helps us collaborate better.

We consider our long-standing clients as friends, and our colleagues as family. Many of our senior people have enjoyed long careers at MLA, and our people-focused, design-led and commercially astute formula allows time to mentor and nurture the next generation within the practice.

We make a point to celebrate our individual and collective professional achievements because our complementary skills and experiences are what make us a resilient and collaborative team, but our culture goes beyond that.

Our Culture is dedicated to making MLA a great place to work. People from a variety of diverse backgrounds across multidisciplinary areas of the practice are taking the lead on our vision and values to charity challenges to creative positive changes in our business and beyond. Our Culture is about embracing what makes us tick.

Internally our dedicated culture team regularly set up series of initiatives focused on getting to know each other better, sharing our knowledge and our personalities. We encourage all staff to get involved and share their interests with colleagues and clients alike. We value our relationships with clients and last year enjoyed events including beer tastings, pub quizzes and creative workshops together.

At MLA, we try to give back where we can, supporting local and national charities with a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. Recently these have included events such as the MLA100K and the MLA Stepathon, and have raised over £16,000 for charities such as Beatson Cancer Charity, NHS Together, Macmillan, The Brain Tumour Charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Simpsons Special Care Babies.

You can watch a video of our MLA100K events here and here.

We pride ourselves on keeping healthy & active. Fitness classes over lunch break, and the cycle to work scheme are open to all staff.

Encouraging wellbeing and mental health has become a core message throughout the practice. More recently, we focused on this while working closely with Headtorch, who delivered training sessions and webinars aimed at raising awareness and being better armed to spot signs of mental health issues. We continue to learn and develop our culture and keep an open dialogue about mental health and wellbeing.
